Goodbye my Ruger boy

At the risk of seeming rather melodramatic I write this post......We lost our dear Ruger two nights ago.  I feel rather silly for being so upset about an animal, but we were even more attached to Ruger than either of us thought. Its a very sad time at the DeVault household.  As much as we complained about his continous barking and dissapearing to the neighbors, we loved him that much more. I remember the day Will brought him home.  It was the January before we got engaged, and I remember immediately thinking, "what has he gotten us into", but how could you say no to that cute little face!
He got us into nights of endless barking, replacing a chewed up door jam, many MANY dug out holes in the backyard, trips to the vet for wasp stings in the eye and poisonous snake bites.......but I wouldnt trade any of it.
After 3 years of growing up in a privacy fenced yard in a subdivision, we finally got Ruger the farm we always wanted for him.  He had his freedom for 4 months, and to me thats so much better than none at all. He was happy.....and you could litterally see that in his face.
I do believe his favorite part of the farm was swimming in our creeks.....besides chasing Bonnie, Clyde, & Simmons (our barn kitties) of course.  He could make it down to the creek for a swim and back in 2 minutes flat....just to be sure he didnt miss anything going on at the house.:) But boy did he love that mud!

Im happy that so many of my friends finally got to meet him this past weekend and Ruger loved every minute of it. Continuous attention and love from so many different people.....his perfect day! Here are a few pics from this weekend.....his last....
Such a good boy....
And his very last.....he was often my test subject before taking pictures...This was on Sunday afternoon.
RIP Ruger....you are already so missed.

I had tears in my eyes reading this. Dogs have such a special place in our hearts, our four legged babies. So sorry for your loss.
