I had the great opportunity to decide and decorate Corbin's (my brand new awesomeness of a nephew) bedroom to take a little stress of my sister, and lets admit.....fun time for me!  I kept it very simple with a "cowboy" theme.  If he is anything like his big bro, Ill be right on the money with the theme! :)
They already had the crib and dresser, so all they needed was a little accessories. They decided on a nice neutral tan color for the walls and had that done before I even got started!
(Side note: YAY!!!! I HATE PAINTING!!)
So my mom and I headed out to www.lonesomepinequilts.com to find the perfect fabric for our planned projects.  We found a pretty green for the curtains (mom hammered those out for me!), a cute brown and green cowboy print along with a milk chocolate minky for a blanket, and some orange John Deere print (for Cade...will tell you about that later). I have to say I am very proud of myself on the minky blanket.  After not sewing for probably 15 years or so, I did it all by myself with no help from Mom!
Cade was very happy that Corbin would have his own "soft blanket" and not need to borrow his...lol The pillow wasnt planned, but I had enough left over that it was a last minute addition. Sis still had all of Cade's brown sheets, so Corbin just gets those as hand-me-downs :) (he better get used to it as the 2nd/hopefully middle child).
Then I made a "C is for Corbin" picture frame.  I just bought a "barnwood" frame from HL and stained it to be a little darker.  I actually did it before all of the other wooden stuff, so I wish I would have used the same stain, but I think it will do. I used a green peice of scrapbook paper for the background, printed the words on my printer at work, and stained some unfinished wood letters for the alphabet, then glued them on!
Next was Corbin's sign for above his crib.  Sis had looked at and loved the ones made with a lariat rope that spell out the childs name, but they are sooooooo expensive, and Im not sure I would have the skill or patience to try that one!  So I chose an alternative.  I had my husband grab me some 1x6 and 1x4s at Lowes and decided to make something from scratch.
Then I grabbed some unfinished wood letters at HL to spell out his name, a cast iron boot hook, and some Ebony and Walnut wood stain.  I decided to do the letters the lighter color to try and tie in the crib color since that would be an MAJOR project to change the crib and dresser! Corbin's dad was nice enough to get us an old lariat rope that was layin around. And here is the finished product!
I then came across this "rockin goat" (thats what was on the tag) at an antique shop for $6! A little sanding and stain and we have a great little accent piece!
Then I got an unfinished wood shelf at HL for $10 (Thank you HL for your 40% off coupons!). I stained it the same ebony as the back of the sign and voilia!
The canvases.....I just bought at HL for $2 each, printed the prints on my work printer and transferred to the canvas using this technique : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NjYbAAQ4vwThey do look pretty worn, but thats what I was going for. :)
I had my cousin Amy make the crochet cowboy boots for Corbin's Christmas present.....so cute! Below the shelf is the dresser/changing table (I didnt get a pic), but I found a cute basket that is about the same color asthe shelf with green woven into it to hold diapers. Lets see.....is that all?? Yes I think so! Nice and simple, but hopefully sis really does like it!
Oh I forgot about the rocking chair! Their grandmother gave them a little rocking chair a while back, so Sis let me take it and stain it as well!
